In 1922 Italian immigrant Nick Defonte opened Defonte’s Sandwich Shop located in Red Hook, Brooklyn. It is the oldest surviving eatery in the neighborhood. As the years passed it has gained legendary status for its huge heroes and fresh quality meats.
