Ludovico Barbati immigrated to Brooklyn from Torella dei Lombardi in Campania, Italy with a clear dream in mind. At first, he crafted his famous spumoni in a small basement on West 8th Street. Then, he sold it from a horse-drawn carriage for just three cents a cup.
Soon afterward, he discovered the perfect location on 86th Street. As a result, L&B Spumoni Gardens grew into the legendary destination it is today.
By the mid-1950s, the family transformed the business into a pizzeria. At the same time, they introduced the famous Sicilian slice with cheese under the sauce. Since then, the restaurant has remained family-owned and deeply connected to Brooklyn’s food culture.

Over several months, I carefully designed this Brooklyn pizzeria miniature. During that time, I recreated every architectural detail, sign, and seating area to match the real restaurant.
