In 1918 the Savarese family made the journey from Naples, Italy to Brooklyn, New York. They brought with them their deep love and unique baking skills. Year after year in the early days, their reputation grew.
Then in 1962, the Savarese family handed the reins to new owners. The Giura family with strong Italian heritage from a small town in Basilicata, Italy called Venosa.
They vowed to carry on the rich baking history of their forefathers. With all baking done on the premise watched over by master pastry chef and owner Mario Giura. Mario served in the U.S. Army for 3 years with 2 years stationed in Korea.
Coming home, he vowed to dedicate his life to Savarese with old school traditions and Italian values. And today joining him, his wife Cathy and sons Patsy and Joey, plus daughter Teresa, all together keep baking love into everything they do.
Making homemade Sfogliatelle, Cannoli, or Gelato using only the finest ingredients using recipes passed down from generations. Throughout the years it has become one of Brooklyn’s most loved bakeries.
They are honored to make it all possible to serve the community and continue the Savarese legacy.
