Connah Store North End’s iconic store miniature replica

$329.00

It was 1992 in Boston’s iconic North End. An area and time when everyone knew each other. And family bond was strong. Mark Petrigno’s dream came true as he opened The Connah Store on 270 Hanover St.

SKU: CONNAH-01 Category:

Back then it was mostly locals who grew up in the area for generations. It became a hot spot that everyone relied on. That little store was a common ground for people to get items they needed, talk to and meet new friends.

At times some say Mark ran the store with an iron fist, being straight to the point. Which made it interesting and infused his iconic character into the place. His son Michael grew up in that store. Stocking the shelves, working the register. Hanging out there at all hours of the night.

When Michael contacted me last year to ask if he could order a miniature recreation of The Connah Store for his dad. I had to think about it and research a bit. I had no idea that the neighborhood even existed. yet alone this epic store. As I looked into the matter, I felt the impact that Mark and the store had on the people of the North End of Boston. Michael expressed how much he is proud of his Dad and the strength he had to live his dream for 31 years. Mark never realized the impact he had on the community until he closed the door for the last time on Jan 1st, 2024. Customers are heartbroken, sad and feel a void. So many people have had great memories there.

The miniature is built as an everlasting memento. I was honored to capture the spirit of the Connah Store forever in miniature form. For Mark, Michael and copies for all those that feel the same. Long live Mark, Michael and the spirit of the North End!
